Mercedes-Benz revealed the redesigned 2027 GLE and GLS at its Tuscaloosa, Alabama, plant on March 31, 2026. The reveal coincided with the plant's five-millionth SUV rolling off the line since production began there in 1995. Mercedes-AMG also debuted the GLE 53 HYBRID at the event.

Mercedes-Benz committed $4 billion to the Alabama site through 2030, part of a broader $7 billion US investment plan.

Both SUVs get new front-end styling with a larger, frameless grille and an illuminated star at its center, with the three-pointed star repeated in each headlight cluster. Inside, the dashboard features the MBUX Superscreen, a trio of 12.3-inch displays running edge-to-edge across the cabin.

Both models run on the new Mercedes-Benz Operating System, a supercomputer that integrates and controls every aspect of the vehicle and connects to the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud.

On the powertrain side, the GLE 580 4MATIC gets a more responsive V8 with increased output, plus an integrated starter generator and 48-volt system. Every 2027 GLE comes standard with 4MATIC all-wheel drive.

Full GLS specs and pricing haven't been released yet.
