GMC Debuts its Most Luxurious, Capable, and Technologically Advanced Sierra 1500
GMC has released an early look at the next-generation 2027 Sierra 1500 ahead of its expected launch in late 2026. The redesign brings two new sixth-generation Small Block V8 engines, a new exterior and interior, and expanded technology across the lineup. The truck is expected to arrive at dealerships before the end of the 2026 calendar year.

Exterior and Interior Design
The 2027 Sierra 1500 gets a new exterior redesign. GMC describes it as having "machine precision forms." Changes include updated headlamps and taillamps with available welcome and farewell animations, GMC's signature WOM lights, a more vertical grille, and available quad exhaust outlets.

Inside, every trim level gets a redesigned cabin with new colorways and materials. Available features include real wood trim accents, forged wood on the Denali Ultimate, a panoramic sunroof, and what GMC calls best-in-class front head and leg room for the crew cab.An available MultiPro center console adds more storage and opens into an extended work surface, with easy access to available USB charge ports.

New Sixth-Generation V8 Engines
The 2027 Sierra 1500 introduces sixth-generation Small Block V8 engines in 5.7L and 6.6L displacements. GMC says the engines bring updates to combustion, cooling, and control systems aimed at improving refinement and durability. A new fuel injection system is designed to optimize power and torque across daily driving, towing, and off-road use.

The lineup also keeps an enhanced TurboMax engine, which GMC says delivers best-in-class standard torque, along with a class-exclusive Duramax diesel option. Every engine pairs with a 10-speed automatic transmission. GMC has not released detailed technical specifications yet and says more will come at a later date.

Denali Ultimate
The Denali Ultimate tops the lineup with a standard 6.6L V8, the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 in its class. Inside, more than 60 inches of combined digital displays headline the cabin, including a 16.3-inch articulating touchscreen, an 11.5-inch passenger screen, a 12.2-inch driver display, and a 15-inch Head-Up Display. A 16-speaker Bose sound system rounds out the experience.

It also comes standard with a three-year Super Cruise subscription with hands-free trailering. Super Cruise is GM's hands-free driver assistance system, usable on more than 600,000 miles of compatible roads in the US and Canada.

AT4X
AT4X is GMC's most off-road capable Sierra yet, riding on 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires. New Multimatic Jounce Control Dampers handle high-speed off-road impacts, while front and rear e-locking differentials, a combination GMC says no competitor offers in its class, help optimize traction across different terrain.

The AT4X also gets a 2-inch suspension lift, a new front fascia, and an exclusive hood design. Inside, it features a Timber Mahogany interior with reinforced bolstering, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and a standard panoramic sunroof.
GMC will continue offering the AEV Edition package on the AT4X.
