2027 Audi Q9 Has 4D Sound, Massive Glass Roof, and Debuts July 29th

The Audi Q9 is built to take on the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS. It effectively steps in as Audi's new flagship, picking up where the discontinued A8 sedan left off. Audi has scheduled the global premiere for July 29, 2026. US deliveries are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026 as a 2027 model.

Size and Design

The Q9 stretches past 196 inches in length, making it the largest vehicle Audi has built. It shares its underlying platform with the next-generation Q7, but rides on a stretched wheelbase. Expect the brand's wide Singleframe grille, split LED headlights, and illuminated rear rings, with wheels sized up to 23 inches on higher trims.

Interior and Seating

Inside, a wraparound dashboard houses a curved digital display for the driver alongside a dedicated touchscreen for the front passenger. A panoramic glass roof spans the cabin, with individual panels that can switch from clear to opaque, blocking nearly all UV light. The available Bang & Olufsen sound system adds seat-mounted bass actuators for what Audi calls "4D" audio.

Buyers can choose a three-across bench for the third row or a pair of second-row captain's chairs, which drops capacity to six. All four doors open and close on their own, powered and equipped with built-in obstacle sensors.

Powertrain

Audi has not released final powertrain specs. Reporting points to six-cylinder and eight-cylinder gas options along with a plug-in hybrid variant. Nothing is confirmed until the July 29 reveal.

Pricing

Audi has not published pricing. Estimates from industry outlets put the Q9 in the $80,000 to $95,000 range to start, with higher trims and a sportier SQ9 variant likely to top $110,000.
