2027 Mazda MX-5 Features Brembo BBS Recaro Package and New Color Option

The Mazda MX-5 Miata has held the Guinness World Record for best-selling two-seat sports car since May 2000, with Guinness updating the total as production climbed past 1.2 million units. For 2026, changes are centered around interior refinement on the Brembo BBS Recaro Package and a new color option.

Performance

All trims run the same Skyactiv-G 2.0-liter four-cylinder, producing 181 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque, with a standard six-speed manual across the range. Sport and Club are manual only, while Grand Touring adds an optional six-speed automatic with paddle shifters.

Club and manual Grand Touring models add Bilstein dampers, a front shock tower brace, an induction sound enhancer, and an asymmetric limited-slip differential, plus DSC-Track mode, which adjusts the stability control threshold between fully engaged and fully disabled. The Brembo BBS Recaro Package adds Brembo front brakes with red-painted calipers on top of that hardware.

Exterior

Sport rides on metallic black 16-inch wheels, with a black cloth soft top, dual-tip exhaust, LED lighting, and gloss-black mirrors. Club moves to black metallic 17-inch wheels and adds a gloss-black front air dam, rear lip spoiler, and shark-fin antenna.

The Brembo BBS Recaro Package swaps in dark gunmetal 17-inch BBS forged wheels and an aero kit featuring gloss-black side sill extensions and a rear bumper skirt. It's optional on the soft-top Club and standard on the Club RF, which opens and closes its retractable fastback roof in about 13 seconds.

Grand Touring trades the Club's gloss black trim for machine-finished aluminum wheels, body-color heated mirrors with driver-side auto-dimming, door sill trim plates, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic headlights.

Premium paint, Aero Gray Metallic, Snowflake White Pearl Mica, Soul Red Crystal Metallic, and Machine Gray Metallic, adds $595.

Interior

Sport gets cloth bucket seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, shift knob and parking brake, a six-speaker audio system, and dual USB-C inputs.

Club steps up to heated cloth seats with suede inserts, vinyl-leather trim, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM, and a nine-speaker Bose system with a subwoofer and headrest speakers.

The Brembo BBS Recaro Package adds heated Recaro sport seats and, new for 2026, black Alcantara trim with light gray contrast stitching.

Grand Touring adds automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, heated leather seats, and Mazda's navigation system. Tan Nappa leather is available for $300.

New for 2027: Zinc Green

Mazda introduced a new MX-5 color, Zinc Green, at the Karuizawa Fan Meeting in Japan on May 31, one of the world's largest gatherings of MX-5 owners.

Mazda describes it as a lifestyle color in the same vein as Polymetal Gray Metallic, shifting from a vibrant, layered look in direct sunlight to a subdued, near-matte gray in lower light.

Green has a long history with the MX-5 and Mazda overall, going back to the green-paneled Mazda Go three-wheeler and the orange-and-green livery of the 787B that won the 1991 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Zinc Green is currently limited to Japan. Mazda says more on US availability will come later this year.

Price, MSRP, and Availability

Sport starts at $30,430 with a soft top. Club starts at $33,930 for the soft top and $41,900 for the RF, with the Brembo BBS Recaro Package adding $5,050 to the soft top Club. Grand Touring starts at $35,730 for the manual soft top and reaches $39,420 for the automatic RF. Prices exclude a $1,235 destination charge.
